RESUMO

The innovative teaching behaviors of college teacher are of positive significance for promoting the construction of educational informatization in China and realizing the high-quality development of higher education. Based on the theory of social cognition and theory of behavioral change, the paper explores the influential mechanism and its boundary conditions of college teachers' information literacy on their innovative teaching behaviors during the new era of educational informatization. Through the investigation of 280 college teachers, it is found that: (1) information literacy and its dimensions of information knowledge and information capability have a significant positive effect on innovative teaching behavior; (2) Creative self-efficacy plays a mediating role between information literacy (information knowledge and information capability) and innovative teaching behavior; (3) College innovation climate significantly moderates the positive relationship between information literacy (information awareness and information knowledge) and creative self-efficacy; (4) College innovation climate significantly moderates the mediating effect of creative self-efficacy between information literacy (information awareness and information knowledge) and innovative teaching behavior. Therefore, colleges and universities should focus on enhancing teachers' information literacy level and their creative self-efficacy, creating an excellent atmosphere for innovation, and encouraging college teachers to actively carry out their innovative teaching practice in the new stage of educational informatization.

RESUMO

Background: Medical students must develop self-directed information-seeking skills while they are learning vast amounts of foundational and clinical skills. Students will use different resources for different phases of their training. Information literacy training provided to students will be more impactful when it is embedded into courses or assignments that mimic real-world scenarios. The retention of these skills is also improved by early and frequent instruction sessions, paired with formative feedback from librarian-educators. Case Presentation: Librarians received student responses to an information literacy question during two cycles of a Grand Rounds activity. Data were analyzed as follows: sources were grouped according to resource type and assessed for quality, and search terms were aggregated and analyzed to determine frequency of use. A librarian-educator presented the compiled data, making suggestions for improving searching and clarifying expectations for how to improve their resource choices for a second Grand Rounds session. Comparing the M2 Grand Rounds case to the M1 case of the same cohort, the frequency of evidence summary and diagnostic tool use increased and the frequency of search engine, textbook/lecture material, and journal article/database use decreased. Discussion: In the real-world application of back-to-back Georgetown University's Medical Center Grand Rounds exercises, librarian-led instruction on clinical-specific resources appears to be correlated with an improvement in medical students' searching behavior. This trend supports the argument that introducing students early to librarian-led education on clinical-specific resources, and providing feedback on their searches, improves students' information-seeking behavior.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Emergency specialist nurses play a vital role in providing high-quality care to patients. This study investigated the innovative behavior and information literacy of emergency specialist nurses and analyzed the influence of information literacy on innovative behavior to promote the latter. METHODS: In total, 484 emergency specialist nurses in Sichuan Province, China, completed the Innovative Behavior and Information Literacy Scales. Univariate analysis, Pearson's analysis, and multiple linear regression were performed. RESULTS: The emergency specialist nurses' innovative behavior and information literacy scores were 32.34 ± 6.27 and 74.32 ± 7.38, respectively. Scores for information awareness, ability, knowledge, and ethics were 3.90 ± 0.53, 2.95 ± 0.45, 3.32 ± 0.19, and 3.28 ± 0.30, respectively. The correlation analysis demonstrated that information literacy positively correlated with innovative behavior. The multivariate linear regression analysis revealed that experience in publishing academic papers influenced innovative behavior. CONCLUSIONS: Emergency specialist nurses demonstrated a moderate level of innovative behavior. Higher information literacy was associated with higher innovative behavior. Therefore, enhancing emergency specialist nurses' information literacy could stimulate innovative behavior and improve innovation ability. Nursing managers should develop corresponding information literacy training programs according to the characteristics of information literacy and evidence-based practice of emergency specialist nurses to improve their innovation level and quality of specialized nursing services.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The rampant spread of misinformation about COVID-19 has been linked to a lower uptake of preventive behaviors such as vaccination. Some individuals, however, have been able to resist believing in COVID-19 misinformation. Further, some have acted as information advocates, spreading accurate information and combating misinformation about the pandemic. OBJECTIVE: This work explores highly knowledgeable information advocates' perspectives, behaviors, and information-related practices. METHODS: To identify participants for this study, we used outcomes of survey research of a national sample of 1498 adults to find individuals who scored a perfect or near-perfect score on COVID-19 knowledge questions and who also self-reported actively sharing or responding to news information within the past week. Among this subsample, we selected a diverse sample of 25 individuals to participate in a 1-time, phone-based, semistructured interview. Interviews were recorded and transcribed, and the team conducted an inductive thematic analysis. RESULTS: Participants reported trusting in science, data-driven sources, public health, medical experts, and organizations. They had mixed levels of trust in various social media sites to find reliable health information, noting distrust in particular sites such as Facebook (Meta Platforms) and more trust in specific accounts on Twitter (X Corp) and Reddit (Advance Publications). They reported relying on multiple sources of information to find facts instead of depending on their intuition and emotions to inform their perspectives about COVID-19. Participants determined the credibility of information by cross-referencing it, identifying information sources and their potential biases, clarifying information they were unclear about with health care providers, and using fact-checking sites to verify information. Most participants reported ignoring misinformation. Others, however, responded to misinformation by flagging, reporting, and responding to it on social media sites. Some described feeling more comfortable responding to misinformation in person than online. Participants' responses to misinformation posted on the internet depended on various factors, including their relationship to the individual posting the misinformation, their level of outrage in response to it, and how dangerous they perceived it could be if others acted on such information. CONCLUSIONS: This research illustrates how well-informed US adults assess the credibility of COVID-19 information, how they share it, and how they respond to misinformation. It illustrates web-based and offline information practices and describes how the role of interpersonal relationships contributes to their preferences for acting on such information. Implications of our findings could help inform future training in health information literacy, interpersonal information advocacy, and organizational information advocacy. It is critical to continue working to share reliable health information and debunk misinformation, particularly since this information informs health behaviors.

RESUMO

DESIGN: A two-round Delphi survey was conducted to seek opinions from experts about the index system for the evaluation of training courses of clinical nursing staff's information literacy. Besides, a non-randomized controlled experimental study was adopted to check the application effect of the training courses. AIMS: This study intended to construct a training course of information literacy for clinical nurses, train nurses in order to improve their information literacy level and provide theoretical reference for the training of information literacy courses for clinical nurses. METHODS: Two rounds of Delphi study were conducted for the study among 26 clinical medical and nursing experts as well as educational experts from 5 different provinces and cities in China. From July 2022 to October 2022, a total of 84 clinical nurses from two hospitals were selected by the convenience sampling method, of which the nurses in one hospital were the control group and the nurses in the other hospital were the observation group. 42 nurses in the observation group were trained by the constructed information literacy training course. Questionnaire evaluation was used to compare the differences in the level of information literacy of nurses and the training effect between the two groups. RESULTS: The results of the Delphi consultation showed that the expert's judgment coefficient was 0.958, the expert's familiarity was 0.946, and the expert's authority coefficient was 0.952. Finally, a training course of information literacy for clinical nurses with 4 course categories and 45 specific course contents was formed. Among them, nursing information awareness included 7 courses, nursing information knowledge 15 courses, nursing information ability 19 courses, and nursing information ethics 4 courses. The results of the empirical study showed that the information literacy level of the nurses in the observation group after the training of the information literacy course was improved, and the scores in nursing information awareness, nursing information knowledge, nursing information ability, and information ethics were significantly higher than those in the control group after training (P < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: The constructed information literacy training courses for clinical nurses were clearly targeted and systematic. Empirical research showed that the course contents were scientific and reasonable, which could provide reference for the training of clinical nurses' information literacy.

RESUMO

Objective: To study the level of disaster literacy among nurses in China and the influcing factors and to provide scientific basis for developing effective interventions to improve the disaster literacy among Chinese nurses. Methods: Between September 2021 and October 2021, an online survey was conducted among nurses from health care institutions in eastern, central, western, and northeastern China by using a cross-sectional survey design and convenience sampling. The content of the survey included the surveyed nurses' sociodemographic characteristics, occupational characteristics, disaster relief characteristics, self-efficacy, and disaster literacy level. A disaster literacy model developed previously was used to assess the nurses' disaster literacy. Results: A total of 107997 nurses were covered in the survey and their disaster literacy score was found to be 255.62±53.92. According to the findings of multiple linear regression, the protective factors for disaster literacy among Chinese nurses included the following, being based in Eastern region (non-standardized regression coefficient [ B]=2.365, 95% confidence interval [ CI]: 1.647-3.082), male sex ( B=9.418, 95% CI: 7.892-10.944), bachelor's degree or higher level of education ( B=3.822, 95% CI: 3.195-4.450), tertiary-level hospitals ( B=3.569, 95% CI: 3.000-4.138), military/local public hospitals ( B=2.606, 95% CI: 1.750-3.463), emergency department ( B=2.921, 95% CI: 2.149-3.694), intermediate professional title ( B=2.918, 95% CI: 2.209-3.627), senior professional title ( B=5.801, 95% CI: 4.448-7.155), participation in disaster rescue ( B=5.566, 95% CI: 5.020-6.112), the institution being previously involved in disaster emergency rescue ( B=3.257, 95% CI: 2.429-4.084), the institution having set up disaster rescue team ( B=5.967, 95% CI: 5.103-6.831), having received nursing education in disaster preparedness in school ( B=6.205, 95% CI: 5.621-6.790), having received on-the-job disaster preparedness education and training ( B=8.776, 95% CI: 8.027-9.525), and self-efficacy ( B=5.117, 95% CI: 5.069-5.165). Conclusions: In China, disaster literacy among nurses is at a medium to low level and needs to be improved. For the next step, efforts should be focused on nurses with the following features, being based in the central and western regions, female sex, having completed junior college education or less, no nursing education in disaster preparedness in school, having junior professional titles, being from gynecology, pediatrics, and auxiliary departments, working in grassroots medical and health institutions and primary and secondary-level hospitals, neither the individual respondent nor her institution having any experience in disaster rescue, the institution having no disaster rescue team, not having any on-the-job nursing education and training in disaster preparedness, and having low self-efficacy. Measures should be taken to improve their disaster literacy level.

RESUMO

Objective: This study aimed to measure the association between the efficacy/efficiency of digital information retrieval among community family physicians at the point of care and information and computer literacy. Methods: This study is a part of a cross-sectional anonymous online survey-based study among community family physicians who reported no affiliation with an academic institution in eight Arab countries. Results: A total of 72 physicians were included. The mean total score for the information literacy scale was 59.8 out of 91 (SD = 11.4). The mean score was 29.3 (SD = 5.6) out of 55 on the computer literacy scale. A one-way ANOVA revealed a statistically significant association between information literacy and information retrieval efficacy (F (2,69) = 4.466, p = 0.015) and efficiency of information retrieval (F (2.69) = 4.563, p = 0.014). Computer literacy was not associated with information retrieval efficacy or efficiency. Conclusion: The information and computer literacy scores of community family physicians in eight Arab countries are average. Information literacy, rather than computer literacy, is positively associated with the efficacy and efficiency of information retrieval at the point of care. There is room for improvement in evidence-based medicine curricula and continuous professional development to improve information literacy for better information retrieval and patient care.

RESUMO

This research investigated the influence of information literacy on the creative skills of medical students through the mediation of lifelong learning. A cross-sectional survey was conducted for data collection among medical students, recruited through a stratified convenient sampling procedure, of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. The questionnaire was personally administered by visiting each college with written permission. A total of 473 survey responses were collected and analysed using the partial least squares structural equation modelling. The results revealed that the information literacy of medical students had a direct and indirect but positive influence on their creative skills. Lifelong learning not had a direct but positive effect on creative skills but also mediated the relationship between information literacy and creative skills. The empirical evidence for how information literacy influences creative skills through the mediated role of lifelong learning may inform policy and practice for information literacy instructions. These results may help academicians and information specialists to initiate a credited or integrated course on information literacy in the curriculum of medical students not only in Pakistan but also in other developing countries. This research would be a worthwhile contribution to the existing research on information literacy as the mediated role of lifelong learning between information literacy and creative skills has never been examined so far.

RESUMO

Improving citizen epidemic prevention information literacy is one of the most cost-efficient and important measures to improve people's epidemic prevention abilities to effectively deal with future public health crises. Epidemic prevention information literacy is beneficial to improve individuals' ability to deal with public health crises in the future. By summarizing related domestic and international research, and utilizing an empirical methodology, we constructed an epidemic prevention information literacy assessment model with good reliability, validity, and model fit. The model is composed of four indicators: (1) "epidemic prevention information awareness"; (2) "epidemic prevention information knowledge"; (3) "epidemic prevention information ability"; (4) "epidemic prevention information morality". We used the model to assess the epidemic prevention information literacy of Chinese citizens. The results showed the following: (1) the overall level of the epidemic prevention information literacy of Chinese citizens was comparatively high, however, its development was unbalanced, and the capability and moral levels of the epidemic prevention information were comparatively low; (2) the four dimensions of the epidemic prevention information literacy were different in terms of the citizens' education levels and locations. We analyzed the probable causes of these problems, and we propose specific corresponding countermeasures. The research provides a set of methods and norms for the evaluation of citizen epidemic prevention information literacy in the post-epidemic era.

RESUMO

As the world experiments with multiplex approaches to achieve a free pandemic society, infodemic pillages the online and offline realms, which exacerbates the spectrum of media fragilities, especially for particular age groups. Misinformation and disinformation related to health, political, and social issues, among others, deter the thin line that demarcates official reports from fake news. As a response to the COVID-19 infodemic, a curriculum and competency framework for media and information literacy can help promote a critical understanding of communications content for people to become media literate citizens. Incorporating the framework in the political and educational spheres enables the people, especially the dominant media users, to reinforce reliable information through responsible content-sharing on media platforms, which is essential for public health safety.

Introduction: Health Literacy allows for optimizing healthy lifestyles and preventive and protective health behaviors. The use of information and communication technologies to promote Digital Health Literacy has become increasingly current, overcoming the geographical barrier caused by the social isolation, so present during the pandemic. Are the informal caregivers able to access this information, understand it and use it, having gains in health? Having as theoretical reference the Nola Pender Health Promotion Model, an intervention project was carried out, with the general objective of contributing to the training of informal caregivers through the promotion of digital health literacy. Methodology: This project was based on the Methodology of Health Planning of Imperatori and Giraldes (1993). The situation was diagnosed using the project questionnaire: Profile of The Informal Caregivers of the Municipality of Lisbon. The project focused on a Family Health Unit of Aces Lisboa Norte, a non-probabilistic sample of convenience. Results: An interactive digital manual was created, addressing the status of the informal caregiver, rights, and duties, and the health of the informal caregiver, providing links and QR codes to access digital platforms relevant to the subject. The execution of the project took place in the context of home visits to 14 Informal Caregivers. It was found that almost half of the informal caregivers do not use digital platforms, because they do not know how to use them or because they do not have the internet at home. Conclusions: The creation of digital tools should be directed to the characteristics of the population. For people with low digital literacy, simple technologies should be created and if they cannot or do not want to use digital tools, appropriate alternatives should be created.

ABSTRACT The Digital Object Identifier, abbreviated as DOI and emerged in 1997, is a unique alphanumeric string that identifies electronic content and provides a permanent link to its location on the Internet. Twenty-five years after the implementation of this tool, there are still many journals with a considerable impact which do not have DOIs. Cuba does not have it because it is denied by the big registration agencies. The objective of this article was to highlight the importance of the DOI as a basic tool for the control of digital documentation. We concluded that its main contribution is to ensure the persistent and unique identification of a document, through a central systematic record of its metadata. It is recommended that whenever the DOI is available online, it is used in the bibliographic citation, to improve the visibility of the journals and the researchers themselves.

Within this perspective, this work discusses the use of comics in the dis-semination of knowledge about fish food safety in a scientific dissemination event. For the occasion, a story was created, which emphasized the concept of Anisakis spp. and methodologies for the prevention of anisakiasis. The plot involved participants of all ages, strongly suggesting that comics are captivating and function as a learning tool, which can contribute to the scientific literacy of the population, leading to health promotion at an individual and collective levels. We highlight the importance of producing new knowledge that expands the dialogue between the areas of health, science and technology with society. Furthermore, it is urgent to increase investments and promote advanced and continuous training for science disseminators

Background: Nursing students often prioritize learning clinical skills rather than research skills, possibly inhibiting their growth as scholars. Supporting nursing students' learning of information literacy skills has been shown to impact nurses' involvement with research after graduation. This suggests a need for developing innovative information literacy teaching strategies that can enable nursing students to better understand the process of research and how to apply research to practice. Case Presentation: This article describes the implementation of the embedded librarian project at the course level at the University of Memphis. A librarian was integrated into the Advanced Nursing Research course, a semester-long course for graduate nursing students, for the fall 2020 semester. This case shares the embedded librarian project's implementation and evaluation strategies. Conclusions: The embedded librarian project aided students' acquisition of information literacy skills at the University of Memphis. Students reported that the embedded librarian project helped them complete assignments for their research course. Using an embedded librarian service within the graduate nursing curricula model may enhance scholarship among future nurses.
